This vociferously, vibrant, visual is a verdant vision on the vicious, vacuous agenda of our current victorious ruling class. This vitriolic verbiage, laden film portrays victimized, vulnerable innocence at the hands of virulent, vixens of vulgarity. The vulgarity comes in voluminous diatribes, vilifying terrorist villains, instilling, paralyzing fear in the heart and installing veneration to false Gods in the mind. Worship the idols, and vex those that are different is the mantra of the day.
Earth, twenty years from now, current events allowed to trend out to their logical conclusion leads one to ask, well, how did we get here? This is not my beautiful country? This is not my beautiful life? How does a society become a totalitarian state, run by corporations? It is easier than we think and V delivers the how to with emotional bite.
The movie V examines what happens to a society drenched in fear. A fear based civilization flees from freedom like a late night stranger in the wrong part of town. Fear takes over trust and the world gets turned upside down bringing out the worst and the best in our human nature.
Totalitarian governments are allowed to take away art and subdue thinking outside the narrow confines of the dictator class. They make it illegal to think, illegal to know freedom, illegal to follow one's heart. But inside the heart yearns the calling of our being; sometimes dormant, sometimes beating, the heart seeks to fulfill its mission. The heart mission requires freedom and thus liberation of culture is always sought by the masses.
This movie asks viewers to heed the calling of the heart to be liberated, and to hear the trumpets of freedom calling the masses to seize their power; and to bring on the challenges that make the people great. In a world of the weak and few controlling the strong and many, I side with the many.
The film ends with the greatest joy on Earth, the joy of a liberated people. V for Vendetta is a must see movie for any activist wanting to feel hope and inspiration to carry forth their cause. In a world of strife the road to destruction is black and white, V is a series of colorful billboards along the path, offering up alternative versions for what may be, and what may be otherwise.
The verdict for V, this voluptuous, vivid version of history is V stands for Vanquished.
