Kucinich, Dean, Bush,
a cost comparison
by Michael Tivana 12-17-03

What will each man cost in our health, wealth and security?
Please consider voting for Dennis Kucinich for President of the United States of America. Hold that thought!
A vote for Dean is a Vote for Bush
Dean is Bush on all the major issues - War, Health care, Economics
WAR
Both Bush and Dean want to continue the war in Iraq until the job is done. Americans believe in three myths that only Mr. Kucinich disspells. Creating in Iraq: a constitution, an election, and stability; there would be chaos if we left.
- We cannot teach the Iraqis about democracy, they already have one.
- The US cannot create a constitution for Iraq they already have one.
- They have always had elections. What the US is doing are not elections, Bremmer and the CPA are hand picking caucus members that will vote in the new government. This is not a democracy this is a republic. The people in Iraq want to exercise the constitution they already have and have an election like the ones they have always had.
- The Sunni and Shiites have had numerous mass demonstrations to show their solidarity and to dis-spell the myth that they would have a civil war if the US left.
- the US is not the peacekeepers that are stabilizing the region. We have been bombing the civilian population since 1991 and continue to do so with radioactive Uranium weapons.
The US war in Iraq is not making the world safer, it is breeding enemies of America. It is in fact an occupation that is building the infrastructure for multi-national businesses to secure more markets at US taxpayers expense.
Dean will continue this war for the multi-national (not US) companies. Kucinich will get us out sooner than later.
WAR - Bush, Dean, and Clark would continue this madness, Kucinich would not.
Healthcare
Both Dean and Bush want to continue the same type of price gouging health care. Health care is important to a society and it is clear that more Americans are without health care and have to pay more for it than ever before. The rest of the industrial world has a single payer universal system - Europe, Canada, Japan, while the US has privatized (profitized) its healthcare system. As a result the US spends more of its wealth on healthcare than the other industrialized nations. The issues around healthcare have focused not on the real problem - that Americans are being bilked by the drug and insurance companies - but on how we are going to continue paying for the high price of drugs and low quality of healthcare.
Kucinich points out that the problem with privatized healthcare is the rising need for increased profits in the drug and insurance companies. The upward spiraling costs needed to feed the growing profits will not end until we adopt a system that puts the power of healthcare in the hands of the people, not companies. The single payer system found in the rest of the industrialized world does this. Kucinich is for the single payer system and eliminating privatized health care in our country so we can join in the benefits of a healthy society at a lower cost. A huge advantage to the single payer system is small businesses will no longer be required to carry health insurance for their employees, a huge service to our business community boosting profits across the board.
Howard Dean and Bush support the current system and propose new ways for individuals and taxpayers to provide the drug and insurance companies with profits. Dean's stand is to get more people covered by insurance so they can pay the rising drug costs. This only expands rather than eliminates the problem.
Economics
The scourge of the planet at this time is the economic system known as the "Market Economy". This non-fettered laissez-faire form of economics is creating a wealth gap in the world that has created inexcusable poverty resulting in destabilizing the world. People are faced with starvation, unsafe water, no health care, mass exodus, slavery, leading to the death of millions each year. The question must be asked, is squeezing the life out of the poor in the world be a source of terrorism?
The privatization of our world is increasing economic collapse to entire regions of the world. Argentina and Bolivia are only two recent examples of when the people have said "enough" to the Market Economy and have staged successful revolutions to rid their lives of this privatized scourge. Other names for this economic system are: Globalization, the WTO, NAFTA, and Free Trade.
DEAN supports all of these treaties and touts the addition of labor and environment protections. This makes a good sound bite but the fact remains the overriding factor in these treaties is they go above and beyond any labor and environemntal protective laws. They set up an international set of rules the supercede all national, state, and local laws. They protect the profits and interests of business with disputes over labor and the environment settled in a tribunal, not a court of law. The corporations always win. These treaties are establishing an international super-corporate structure - the end game in setting up a "Corporate State" Fascist world.
There is no gray on this topic - you are either for or against these treaties. Kucinich is for the treaties and agreements that truly foster a just and prosperous world such as the Kyoto Accord, the World Social Forum, and the Peace Charter.
Dean - "I will work to restore good jobs"; how can you do this by supporting NAFTA?
(from the Dean web site - "While Dean was an ardent backer of NAFTA as governor of Vermont, his position has shifted since running for the Democratic presidential nomination.")
However, I have heard him say in the debates that he supports NAFTA, Free Trade and the WTO. Huh?
In supporting the WTO and Free Trade Dean supports the continuance and expansion of a modern day form of colonialism that is making the US the enemy of billions of people around the globe not our friend.
The first act as president Kucinich will repeal NAFTA and abandon the WTO treaty. This will not only improve the economy in our country and in our world it will give the US a moral compass again and truly make the world safer. Kucinich is for Fair Trade not Free Trade. Fair Trade is direct trade with countries in ways that increase the wealth of both countries and prohibit: product dumping, abusive labor practices, and the destruction of the environment. The nature of NAFTA will always allow these abuses to occur, in fact it encourages them. (more details in the book "Beyond Iraq")
If you support peace in the world, if you want to protect the world environment, if you support obtaining your trade goods from fair not slave labor, if you love humanity, if you have hope for a better world, NOW you have the opportunity to prove it - VOTE for Dennis Kucinich for President of the United States of America.
