Chicken Little Comes To Town

The long and the short Michael Ruppert Jan,15,2005

Chicken Little spoke to Seattle last week and the sky has not fallen, yet. Michael Ruppert was on a new book tour promoting "Crossing the Rubicon". Well he has crossed over his own Rubicon and he is now the world’s father of doom. He is urging his followers to move on from 911 and stop trying to save the world and save yourself instead. Stop castrating Bush and the establishment, they are not going anywhere. Do not even run to alternative solutions, there simply isn’t enough time. Man the lifeboats, the US Titanic is going down, all due to the world's diminishing oil supply.

Ruppert spoke of getting in the lifeboats by: ending your debt, selling your house, purchasing gold, and plant that garden. I agree with his Chicken Little assessment, Babylon is about to collapse; and I also agree with the millions of my Hippie friends that have been saying this for decades – “Bring it on!” they say. Hippies have been in the lifeboats all this time and they applaud the new view without that huge monstrosity of a materialistic travesty of life, the US Titanic, casting it's long shadow, blocking the sun, on everyone, in the lifeboats. Peak OIL and the changes to civilization is a Hippie's dream true as long as it means that the unnecessary taxes, the SUVs, the wars, the hate, the people getting fat because their junk food is trucked into their local street corner and all the crap that is polluting our world sinks with it.

Ruppert is predicting that life will get really hard in 2007, especially for industrial countries, this is just around the corner. I cannot disagree, in fact life has already become quite difficult for billions on the planet without clean drinking water or the 1 billion without enough food to sustain their lives. The real dilemma is in an economic system that creates a wealth gap, which has and always will mean a lack of resources for the masses. Every day I discover new ways that poverty is a crime; and the fear of a bad credit rating looms over my society like a dark threatening cloud about to explode on our heads.

Ruppert had a map of the world, a map according to oil. It showed all the oil deals that are going on in our world showing with the industrial nations in this huge grab for the one resource that our lives depend upon for our survival. With the right wing world view the map would excuse the US for fighting for our survival; but with a world view that sees beyond the greed for oil this competition for oil for survival is not worth the annihilation.

He mentioned the great die-off will begin in 2007 when oil becomes scarce. People will die because they are dependent upon oil for food, energy, heat, transportation and the sustenance of their lives. But the question in the back of everyone's mind is, who will survive the coming "peak oil" crisis? It reminds me of the musical chairs game. Everyone knows the music is getting turned off, what we don't know is, who will be left without a chair? And the people walk in circles humming the melody, but they can't name the tune, while Hippies clutch their solar panels eyeing the next empty chair.

So bring it on, the end of the world as we know it --- one man’s apocalypse is another man’s age of enlightenment.
