The Peace Movement and Our Privacy
These are responses to callers on the Dave Ross talk show on October 1,2001.
I was upset by a caller that thinks people in the peace movement are nieve and that the only solution is to be patriotic and support the president's war on terrorists. Other callers were apalling as well, my responses are below.
Dear Dave Ross,
Since the non-election of Sir Bush the people do not have a say in the matters of government. It is nieve to to think otherwise. The non-election was an obvious confiscation of our freedom to govern ourselves. It is nieve to think our own government plays no part in this and future attacks. They are at least libel to take some responsibility for their international policies. People say they are glad Bush is Pres and not Gore because he can handle War better. I claim we would not be in this situation if Gore was president.
Then the caller that wants to abandon all rights to privacy and have people report incidents that aren't good. He claims that this will support the do-gooders and enforce the capture of evil-doers inour country. Poppycock! He expands it to include the intelligence community. Like this is redeems his argument. What we have now is no right to privacy and the intelligence community runs free behind the cloak of classified documents, that get shredded when the truthful do-gooders get close (see Iran / Contra scandal). This is against all that we have fought for in this country. When this happens there will be no country left to fight for.
What is frightening and dangerous is that common citizens in my country are incubating such ideas. Whats next? The mark of the beast?
