When does the UN stop being a body that prevents war and becomes the world's police force; when we see UN forces being called Peace Enforcers as in Afghanistan and Kosovo. They are not peace keepers, they are trained military and they do not protect and serve the people in foreign lands that speak in languages they cannot understand, those troops protect the corporate infra-structure that exploits the resources and markets of the region.
In my studies I have found that the UN is now seen as the peace enforcers instead of its traditional peacekeeper (Yugoslavia). It appears that these forces are needed to provide the secure environment required for multi-national corporations to do business. This is vividly being played out in Iraq at this time. This pins the plight of the Iraqi people on the conscience of the people of the world to supply military forces to keep the security. Iraq will be in chaos if we do not supply security - this is a myth. Once again the blame for what is happening in Iraq is being skewed, where the plight of the Iraqi people is actually in jeopardy because of the invasion by foreign troops and investors.
These investors are no more than carpet-baggers looking to muscle out weak and unprotected business in a foreign land. The post US Civil War era is where the name carpet baggers started as Northern businessmen carried there belongings in suit cases made of carpet and marched over the land looking for opportunities. The Northerners took full advantage of the South and after buying up estates, land, and businesses they owned the lives of the people for decades. Owning the people through absentee landlordism is a part of the spoils that come with conquering nations. This is nation building the unethical, immoral way. Absentee landlordism is what is blatantly occurring in Iraq and Afghanistan and it is what is being rebelled against in South America today.
The foreign carpet baggers in Iraq want military protection, where will they find it? Probably from the UN where back door discussions are carving up the Iraq economic carcass. The buzzards at the UN will be sending in their troops to protect business in the conquest, not keep the confused Iraqis safe from looters and rapers.
Meanwhile Iraq's local business is being undermined by the importation of products and goods from other countries. They are being sold on the black market today but soon we will see Walmarts sprouting up like thorns in a briar patch. As in any conquered country the Iraqis will be renting their country from foreign investors. Globalization thrives on absentee landlordism; renting your life from non-resident landlords.
