The Great Non-Election is over at last
Where is the spine, where is the Democratic backbone that will stand up for America in its hour of need?
Where are the reporters that will ask the hard questions that will root out the corruption and the stench from our halls of power? The race for president is officially over, and the race to the bottom continues pell mell with its stolen mandate solidly in place.
The headlines on the day after read, "How Did the Exit Polls Get It So Wrong?" Exit polls don't lie. They are our last hope to know what is going on in the election process of our democracy. When they conflict with the results this is the first sign that something is wrong with our vote counting process. The exit polls will now be relegated to an historical footnote if the people do not call to have the software that counted the votes rigorously inspected.
Instead the headlines should read, Fraudulent Election Spurs Inspection of Voting Machines Across the Nation. How can the exit polls show a clear, almost landslide victory for Kerry and the actual count be entirely in the other direction?
In the state of Washington the Secretary of State ordered the software that counts the votes in the Seattle Metro area to be changed without inspecting the new software. He did this without notifying the public which is against the law. The problem is that this story may be repeated around the country and NOT ONE machine will be inspected. That is the futility of the day, as the majority of the people are aghast bystanders to the sprouting of an American theocracy.
The reporters are all talking about how the experts that predicted a Kerry win were all wrong. Instead, they should be talking about how the born against Christian Dominionists and the ensuing Constitution Reform Act is a Theocracy waiting to happen.
Heaven help us, one can only hope, let us pray. Does anyone have a remedy to get this knot out of my gut? Inspecting the software in the Diebold voting machines would help. If John Kerry had a backbone he would demand an investigation into the software that has counted our votes - across the board. But alas, Kerry does not have a spine to stand up for our Democracy and thus he shows his complicity in the great non-election 2004. In fact he prays for unification and wants us to get behind Bush so we can be more successful fighting terrorism. Does this mean if I don't get behind Bush I will be partly to blame if this illegitimate war fails?
