The 2006 Election
by Tivana November 6, 2006
It is not who votes that counts, it is who counts the votes that matters - Stalin.
The first question on everybody's mind is will the election be legit? Personally I gave up allowing myself to think that voting in the United States is legit in 2004 after 3 fraudulent elections; and this is before we even discuss the vote counting software. Money controls the parties, the parties control who we vote for, then the stupid ads during the campaign make running on the issues a mockery. There is no discussion about what is really going on in this country and what all these laws, bills, and acts actually do to our society. The elections in the US are shallow if not parched for substance. Yes, television does make us dumber.
The problem with voting in this system is it does not matter who votes that counts, what matters is who counts the votes; thank you Mr. Stalin for this bit of sobriety. How can anyone say we have fair vote counting in our elections when men have been put behind bars for cheating in elections, men have testified before a court that they actually programmed vote counting machines to rig elections. Where is the hope for a fair election when people have been on national TV demonstrating how easy it is to throw the numbers in an election, and when caught cheating there is not punishment for the evil-doers. Yes voting in the USA is ridiculous, it is a sham, but it is our duty as citizens to voice our opinion.
The only power the people have is to vote, and vote their conscience. There are many ways to vote: with a ballot, by striking, by marching, by occupying public territory, by wearing a button, or posting a yard sign. All of these ways of expressing your political view is a VOTE! I encourage everyone to do your duty tomorrow and continue to vote with a ballot. Then I ask you to vote your conscience. Vote for the person that is the closest to representing how you would like the world to be.
I understand why many people think the Republicans are really bad and they must vote for the Democrats. But when passing judgment on whom to vote for, one must not give the Democrats a free pass. Will the Dems end the war and give us peace? Will the Dems end the creation of modern feudalism and stop supporting free trade, and free market trade treaties? Will the Dems stop leading the charge on attacking our constitution through the war on terror by proposing our country adopt the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission ie Nancy Pelosi.
When we the people are carrying National ID cards it will be the Dems we have to thank and it will be the Dems that pushed for more check points to show off our National ID card. The Dems already gave us the new, super, 15 in 1 intelligence agency headed by Negroponte. The Democrats pushed this through Congress and they took away the 85 congressional oversight committees and placed oversight of this monster spy agency in the hands of one person - the president of the United States.
But don't worry, the opportunity for dropping out of this silliness will still be there when your disillusionment sets in as it has for millions of your fellow patriots. The alternatives are waiting and the grass on the other side will be greener than you ever imagined because your conscience will be strengthened, your voice will be heard, and your vote will mean something.
This year I am fortunate enough to have a Green Party candidate to vote for so I can feel good about voting my conscience. Aaron Dixon for the US Senate - Green Party.
