 Dear Friends of the World

Giving Thanks

For fearless acts of courage

I would like to thank all the people in the world that are engaging in fearless acts of courage in the defense of life on the planet. Many thanks to people whom this world depends on for its survival, whether it is standing up for nature and the environment or administering the human rights that maintain liberty and justice for all.

I want to thank the tree-sitters in the Redwoods who live in the trees year round for years at a time to keep them standing tall. Thank you to all those defending nature for without you there would not be clean air or water and our rivers would not have any hope of ever running wild again.

I wish to thank the thousands that protest American terrorist training camps, especially the School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Georgia. Through your courage America is making a long overdue soul search and gut check.

Thanks to the Spaniards for not succumbing to the violence of war. When attacked by terrorism they lifted up the olive branch of peace and voted out their right wing war president for Zapetero who immediately began the "Coalition of the Unwilling" by pulling Spain's army out of Iraq.

Thank you to the brave Iraqis that marched onto the field of battle in Najaf. They marched arm in arm past the bombed out buildings, past the bullet riddled walls and dead bodies. Suffering hundreds of dead and wounded they kept marching until the soldiers of war stopped shooting and left the holy city to the peacemakers.

Thanks to the marchers all around the world. Your participation in rallies for peace gives me faith that a secure world without war is possible.

Thank you to the letter writers, the organizers, the speakers, the fundraisers, the visionaries; your daring ideas and actions inspire me. Keep spreading the message that another world beside war has taken root and is growing.

I thank all the renegade scientists, the against the grain physicists, the inventors of the new technologies, for staying with your dreams against the odds and for enduring the ridicule of your narrow minded peers. Because of you the future is filled with hope.

All the appreciation in the world is bestowed upon the artists and their patrons. Thank you for being, thank you for stepping outside the box to look at life from different points of view. Thank you for appreciating beauty.

Thank you to all my friends; in the hearts of friends, where natural selflessness is practiced, a secure world begins and the blessings of good will ripple throughout the world.

In times of peril, having friends makes the difference between getting through hard times with character or with debilitating scars. Knowing how to be a friend is the best gift we can give our world and the attitude of true friends is a positive meter that measures the meaningfulness of our lives.

Thank you for all those in prison having given up their freedom and especially to those that have given their lives for the just cause - you are the heros, the courageous, the exalted. Thank you!
