Vision Council   - back to Tribal Messenger

The vision council was held on February 16th and went well into the night. People didn't want to leave, but at midnight we had to begin closing down…. 6 to 12 could have been a long one except everyone was so involved. The council was attended by 10 patriots, all concerned about the way life on the planet is headed.

Without a personal vision for the world we lack the conviction that makes our passions become effective. With a vision all of our actions are strengthened with an intention and have greater success.

Personal Vision

We all live different lives and see the world with different views. We all see our own piece of the puzzle of life. Together we make up that puzzle and in order to solve any problems with the puzzle we must look at as many of the pieces as we can. The more pieces we look at the better the solutions; including all views of the spectrum; left and right. This is how we see what pieces fit. I never thought I would agree with Pat Buchanan on anything until he said, “we cannot give up our freedom to expand the empire.”

There are many reasons the current system is unjust.

Our civil liberties, our institutions of government (cabinet), our economy (the new corporations), our political system (move to fascism), our social system (subjects of the empire) are all changing; they are all under attack. Since they are changing it is best to have some say in how they will be changed; best to be pro-active. Best to have a vision. Those with the strongest visions have the strongest will and the most influence on how things turn out.

Short exercise to outline individual visions. This is an example of a four part process to seeing a vision.

Purpose – To aid humanities’ development toward a world without war.

Vision – Promote faith in sharing common property as the best way to survive.

Mission – live in a world where peoples’ needs are met primarily through sharing and bartering and less from money.

Goal – live a life that is 50% not dependent upon the corporate empire by 2003.

Our sense of patriotism is being brought to our attention and is being asked for definition.

What does it mean to be a patriot in America in 2002?

Bush said, “You are either with us or you are with the terrorists”

Where does the urge to revolt take hold? When does it take action? What form does it take?

These are the questions that need discussion. NOW!

Past & Present strategies -

Boycotts

Petitions (letters to leaders)

Information dissemination (leafletting)

Street theater - banners

Unity expressions – work stoppages - strikes

Coalition building

Promoting benefits

Future strategies, ideas that came out of the council

- broadening personal world views through street theater

- communicating with better listening skills

- have our leaders randomly chosen from qualified people

- build our spiritual base; walk the labyrinth, eclectic rituals

- build awareness on the issues and work gradually to bring about change

- sell things that promote the environment

- use the Internet – spread the word – mobilizing – brainstorm – alt. commerce

- living the future (make clothes for local market, sustainable energy, grow own food etc)

- build an active monument to PEACE; a live symbol of our faith, hopes and dreams

If you had a million $$$ to spend on making your vision for the world come true, what would you do?
