Are We Having War Yet? part II - the harsh reality of war.

By Michael Tivana 3/10/03

3/10/1945: During World War II, 300 U.S. B-29 bombers drop almost 2,000 tons of incendiaries on Tokyo, Japan, destroying large portions of the Japanese capital and killing 100,000 civilians. Early in the morning, the B-29s dropped their bombs of napalm and magnesium incendiaries over the packed residential districts along the Sumida River in eastern Tokyo. The conflagration quickly engulfed Tokyo's wooden residential structures, and the subsequent firestorm replaced oxygen with lethal gases, superheated the atmosphere, and caused hurricane-like winds that blew a wall of fire across the city. The majority of the 100,000 dead perished from carbon monoxide poisoning and the sudden lack of oxygen, but others died horrible deaths within the firestorm, such as those who attempted to find protection in the Sumida River, and were boiled alive, or those who were trampled to death in the rush to escape the burning city.

The enormous, newly announced "MOAB" bombs to be dropped by the U.S. on Iraq weigh about 1,000 tons, each, and use modern refinements of the same firestorm-generating principles.

--- reprinted from the Geov Parrish daily column

The MOAB is one of the new bombs that is making the Pentagon boast with pride. The E-bomb and the Daisy Cutter are two more. The E-bomb destroys all electrical wiring in a designated area. It does not discriminate between a war room and a hospital. The Daisy Cutter incinerates everything within a half mile circle - flattened, gone, disappeared, NADA, no more. We used them for the first time in Afghanistan and cleared the people out of the way for the new oil pipeline. The use of these weapons falls in line with the new PAX Americana attitude - We don't want the world to love us, we want the world to fear us.

What is your view of the world? Do you support a president that is ridding the world of evil by wielding weapons of massive destruction? Do you trust your fearless leader to protect your life, your Bill of rights, your dreams for the future? What is your vision for the world? The big one? or that hammock on the beach?

But on the other hand Bush has done more for the peace movement than anyone had imagined just a year ago. Keep it up GW and we will have a New World instead of a NEw WOrld ORder.
