Letter to a friend about Israel

3-12-02 | A friend wrote me a letter the other day and asked,  What are your thoughts on US support of Israel?”

Israel? What is our connection to Israel? Except that we have given them $50 billion in weaponry over the last 50 years. They are now one of the strongest standing armies in the world.

Is it the Zionist movement that we in the US are connected to or the people of Israel?  This movement is different from the Jews that have lived in peace with the Palestinians in this part of the world forever. The Zionist Jews want to have a homeland and will not be denied having it. They have been fighting for one since 1897 at all costs. This argument can be understood and honored, however, they are going about it in a cumbersome way by bullying the conquered into a subordinate lower class position. The Palestinians only want to be treated as equals in this new country with the right to vote, own property, and make a living not slave earnings.

US support of the warlike Zionist movement, is appearing to choose sides. Is it because of the instability in the region that has our warring nation wanting to be involved? Is it the oils in the region? Is it the Zionist lobby in our country? Whatever the reason we must take in account that this is the fuse on the bomb that may set off the next world war and it has been burning for awhile. One has to wonder how much length is left on this fuse? Or is this what the US foreign policy in the region is all about? We certainly have a hand in the region by selling and granting military weapons to all the countries of the region including Iraq.

In 2002 the UN had many votes on many issues and on issues of race, biological weapon treaties and the votes have gone a consistent world vs the US and Israel. Is Israel to the US like Italy was to Germany? Will Iraq be Bush's Poland? Meaning that the invasion of Poland was the line where Hitler had gone too far and the world began to rise up against Germany; whom were only defending themselves of course. There was no other choice for Germany but to seek peace through war. They had 1 ally, Italy; later Japan and almost the US joined them. We have one solid ally Israel, will England and Germany come along? Don't we wonder what is being said in all these meetings? Are they talking about more than treaties, coalition building and choosing sides?
You are either with us or with the enemy.

Studying the complicated treaties and broken treaties between Germany and the rest of the world in the late 30's shows how Hitler loosened the post WWI treaties that held the world in check. In 1937, Hitler withdrew from the Versailles Treaty and this reshuffled the alliance deck while taking away the checks and balances that guaranteed peace. We see that there is a parallel with Bush as he has broken the most important treaty of our times by withdrawing from the ABM Treaty. All the treaties in the world since 1972 have been built upon this foundation treaty and its dismemberment has the ability to unravel the world.

Meanwhile on the homefront the drift toward World War III is turning into an avalanche as the right wing pundits (Limburger, Hanady) are now purporting that talking with rogue states (including Russia and China) does no good. Better to get them first. Limburger says "There is only one way to get rid of nuclear weapons ... use them"

This is on Limburger’s site now..... http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/today.guest.html about our enemies in the world.

"Why do they hate us? I don't care, because we're not going to stop them from hating us. That's not what this is about now. What this is about now is wiping them out, ridding the earth of their bodies."

SO what do I think about the current state of affairs? History has shown that absolute power corrupts absolutely. We are the #1 super-power and now we have troops and weapons pointed at the #2 and #3 super powers and we have given them notice; I can see Bush telling them, "take out a Visa card or else!", meaning that Russia and China must go along with our economic dictates or face the consequences.
