U.S. Begins Massive Air Assault on Iraq

Huge blasts rocked Baghdad as a barrage of mighty explosives crashed down on the Iraqi capital on Friday, sending up huge clouds of smoke and flame.

The U.S.-led aerial attack was heralded by the sound of air raid sirens and explosions, followed quickly by major detonations in the city of 5 million.

Many buildings were ablaze in the heart of the city, with towering red, pink and brown clouds rising high into the night sky.

"Baghdad is burning," said a correspondent for the Al-Jazeera television network. "What more can we say."

Anti-War Activists Continue Protests
The good news is that people around the world are outraged by the US attacking Iraq, Afghanistan, Columbia and the Philippines. The bad news is we are also that hated. This is a sad sad day for America.

Rumsfeld tells us that the US is doing a great job in controlling collateral damage and minimizing the loss of innocent life. His plea is convincing until we look back only one year and see that we heard this before and the great technology of the dumb bombs made mistakes in bombing hospitals and Red Cross food warehouses not once but several times. Yes this is a strategic bombing mission but the bombs are meant to wreak havoc not save lives.

Below are some of the images from day 1 of the expanded war on terror. I was moved by the women who demostrated the fact the the US has blood on our hands in Greece. Now that the New WOrld ORder is increasing its crimes against humanity, the people need to call them on it. War is obselete!
