The Bush Administration and the Phoenix Memorandum 5-17-02 - by Michael Tivana - back to Tribal Messenger The White House once told us that they knew nothing about the hijackers prior to 911, now we hear different. This is from the congressional hearing interviewing Sen. Daschle on the news of the Phoenix Memorandum, the FBI report warning Bush about bin Laden hijacking planes. DASCHLE: The White House had said publicly that they were not briefed, that they had no information prior to 9-11. That was pretty clear. In fact, I was just shown again a transcript of it this morning, of one of the times when the White House had publicly so stated... there was a general feeling, given what we were told during these breakfasts and briefings, that there wasn't any clear indication that reports of this kind were available. (The report would be the now infamous Phoenix FBI memorandum) Question: Was the White House misleading the public by saying it had no prior information? and clarify Cheney's statement asking for no investigation whatsoever. DASCHLE: The impression that the vice president left me is that, he would prefer no investigation. And then when we pursued the matter, I told him that we had no choice but to move forward with the Intelligence Committee investigation.... DASCHLE: I think the administration ought to do two things today. The first and most important is to release the Phoenix memo regarding the FBI report. As you know, this is one of two reports. There was also a Minnesota memo, very similar in nature, that pointed out that there were those who clearly are suspect. And connecting the dots is something I think this administration needs to do with the release of that information. End of story? Will it end here? or can we the people pry this open and expose the gaping wound in the Bush administration's ongoing cover-up of the 911 attacks. The Bush administration stated they had no prior knowledge of the possibility of hijackers attcking us with planes and now they say they did. The FOX pundits have stated that there was one report, it was a single page, and it was delivered two days before the 911 and it was not that much different from other reports. LIES, LIES, LIES = thinly veiled propaganda. I find their comments disturbing. This is a slap in the face of a congressional investigation, which is the best chance the US citizens have to discover the truth and they come back with LIES! Cheney called Democratic criticism "deeply disturbing" and warned foes to tread lightly. "They need to be very cautious and not seek political advantage by making incendiary comments," he said in a speech to New York conservatives. Condelezza Rice said the intelligence report, tucked in a 1-page CIA terrorism report given to Bush during an Aug. 6 briefing while on vacation in Texas, mentioned bin Laden's al-Qaida network and "hijacking in a traditional sense" — not suicide hijackers slamming fuel-laden planes into American landmarks. I say poppycock and balderdash! Again the Bush administration has taken an honest attempt to ferret out the truth and turned it into a political gain. The more disturbing thing is the incendiary rhetoric that defends the lies continues to wedge a gap in the opinions in this country. Its black & white as Bush has said it, "if you aren't with us you're with the terrorists". More lately he has said "if you aren't with us you are against us". The exact phrase Hitler used to rally his country into war in 1939. It worked for Hitler, will it work for Bush? E_mail: the Tribal Messenger
