When I explain my political views and concerns about the world some people say I am paranoid. It is not me that is paranoid but the flag wavers filled with fervant patriotism. They are riding a wave of paranoia that is threatening my freedom and that concerns me. I am against the seemingly unlimited amount of paranoia in the US these days when it is used to constantly abrogate the rules of our free society. This paranoia is coming at us through unscrupulous and shameful means. Take USA Freedom Corps, Bush's new volunteer program for example. It is built on the paranoid thinking that we are under attack 24/7 and we could die tonight if we don't do something. To think that Americans would volunteer to infringe on my freedom is beyond comprehension.

The rhetoric is pure paranoia, flagellated by the Bush administration and orchestrated with the media in a propaganda blitz the world has never seen. The government has now provided us with several organizations to connect us with the paranoia storm.

The first sentence on the Freedom Corps web site reads, "Out of the evil of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001".

"The Citizen Corps will harness the power of citizens to help prepare their local communities for the threats of terrorism."

The Neigborhood Watch Program, "active participation of neighborhood residents is a critical element in community safety … through a willingness to look out for suspicious activity in their neighborhood, and report that activity to the police". "We will be publishing information which will assist citizens in organizing Neighborhood Watch Programs, knowing what to look for in the community, and understanding what to do if they observe suspicious activity." The sad thing is this will be a best seller book on paranoia and how to exercise your right to be paranoid by reporting it to the police.

"Operation TIPS - the Terrorism Information and Prevention System - will be a nationwide program giving millions of American truckers, letter carriers, train conductors, ship captains, utility employees, and others a formal way to report suspicious terrorist activity".

Volunteers in Police Service Program (VIPS). VIPS draws on the time and considerable talents of civilian volunteers … to assist local law enforcement in incorporating community volunteers into the activities of the law enforcement agency.

This is just some of the many programs that gives our paranoia something to do. Already we have landlords turning in people of middle eastern appearance that want to rent with cash to the local police (in Seattle). What next, people wearing turbans will not be allowed into SAFECO field?

No, when I sound off about being against an indefinite war against an obscure enemy that can be conjured into nightmarish demons of mass destruction and then used to change my civil rights I am not the paranoid one here because PARANOIA is the enemy. PARANOIA will destroy ya. It is not me but the rest of the flag-wavers that are buying into the terrorist threat, hook, line and sinker whom are the paranoid ones. The ones that will not fly on a plane because it might blow up are the paranoid ones. I personally do not like to fly because I do not enjoy being around paranoid people that have to strip search me every 15 minutes.

When I get up in the morning I pray for the health of my country, the mental health. May we not buy into the fear and paranoia that is being shoved without shame down our gaping throats. May we have the courage to tell the truth; this is a phony war, by phony people for the advancement of phony elitist corporate monopolies.
