Big Bird Going Bye-Bye?

How tragic - yet how predictable. All that was free and public is being dismantled in the new free market economy.

This economy is founded in Fascsim. Fascism is runaway capitalism that marries corporations to government. Fascism is government for business not people. The illusion is that Hitler and the Nazis were Socialists and were Fascists, therefore Fascism is Socialism. This is an illusion, Hitler named his party the Democratic Socialist Party to win over the support of the people. Just ask the unions that the Nazis busted if they were Socialists.

With words like privatization, and phrases like ownership society, the new free trade - free market economy is taking apart the public domain of our country and replacing it with private business. The prison industrial complex is the leading example of how our tax dollars are being misspent by our government awarded contracts to make a few people very rich. This is no different than Schindler getting money from the Nazis to employ prison labor to make cooking pots during WWII.

In the remaking of America there is a need to reform the minds of the people, especially the children. With Big Bird gone our wee ones will be more entertained by warriors and demon bad guys. Such a shame on the powers that be, the Now Cons that are dismantling Public Television by eliminating public funding (tax dollars) for children's programs.

The new Neo Conservative Chairman of the CPB, Kenneth Tomlinson, is attempting to withhold funding from PBS programs that don't follow his conservative political line. Apparently dissatisfied with this effort to make public broadcasting more "fair and balanced," the Republican majority is now trying to bankrupt the entire system. It is time for the people to come up with new ways to pool their money on a large scale that circumvents our current tax system, because our current system of public funding is going away.

The problem isn't just the misuse of the public tax dollars (75% of the public supports funding public TV), the bigger problem is the reprogramming of the public airwaves to be filled with the intellectual pollution of the conservative right. This new programming effects the way Americans view their world - the Fascist point of view where it is OK to dismantle our public tax structure to serve business first and the people second.
