London Bombings - the
Next Milestone in the War On Terror
Is terrorism holding the world hostage or spurring it to wage peace?
Special Report - London, July 8, 2005 | Four bombs and hundreds of casualties later, the world questions its course on fighting terrorism. How will the world view the London bombings? Will the right wingers stiffen the resolve of their might-is-right posture or will they soften and seek other ways to reconcile the endless war on terrorism as demonstrated by Spain in 2004 by pulling their troops out of Iraq.
The reporters are asking the most important question of our times, "how best to deal with conflict?" What is the best way to solve the terrorist problem and prevent a world war? The London bombings provide the people of the world another opportunity to answer the most critical issue of our time, do we find security through brute force or through the willingness to understand our enemies? In the coming days, the answer will become obvious to each individual. But first we must begin by asking, who is the enemy? Is violence the enemy? Is there such a thing as good violence fighting bad violence? Doesn't each side of a war claim the good excusable violence?
In the quest to end terrorism, Americans hold the trump cards, they wield the power in determining how this war on terror plays out. How have Americans viewed the London bombings? During the day of the bombings my heart sank as each report came over the airwaves, as each pundit and talk show host parroted the warning: Al Queda could strike anywhere, at anytime, and our country must be alert. All of the work the peace movement has done over the years to dispel the fear that justifies good violence seemed for naught. As the country plummets into the grip of fear we are more willing to support the establishment's policies of war and these policies represent far reaching changes to America's and the world's status quo, including: loss of civil rights, bullying foreign policy, and unleashing the savage dogs of war.
Who are the terrorists? The public gets its information to answer this question from officials who are proven liars. History is rife with examples of government lies to convince Americans to wage war. In addition, the investigation into the London bombings is fraught with ambiguities that make Abbot and Costello's "Whose on first" appear sensible. The AP story, "All Bombers Died in London Attacks", is a glaring example of Orwellian Newspeak that confuses people into accepting a changing status quo. The story reads, "Police believe the three underground trains were targeted by attackers who placed explosives with timers on board and then got off," and finishes by saying, "Metropolitan Police refused to comment on the reports." Ok, so the bombers got off the trains and are alive and the police refuse to comment which completely negates the headline that the police say the bombers are all dead. This is Newspeak, beware, it is meant to confuse not inform.
Consider who the terrorists may be, and keep an open mind, because:
In 2001 the CIA was granted permission to assassinate people in foreign countries
The Pentagon has a tactic to launch coups and destabilize countries through acts of terror called the "Terrorist Tension Tactic" (researched by John Judge) and planned using such tactics on America through 'Operation Northwoods'. The Pentagon has carried out terrorism in Western Europe through a project called Operation Gladio" (Wikipedia).
The BBC documentary, "The Power of Nightmares", declares that Al Queda is a myth fabricated by the Neo Cons to take the place of Russia and the Cold War. Acts of terrorism, whether real or not, support the official story to wage war. The existence of a boogeyman terrorist is raw power that can be used to alter the status quo of the people.
And with Bzrezinski and Kissinger braying to thier cronies in crime about the need for an external threat to coerce the people of the world into going along with creating a New World Order.
"Today, America would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order. Tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told that there were an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead to deliver them from this evil… with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by the World Government."
-- Henry Kissinger - 1991 Bilderberger conference, Evians, France.
"As America becomes an increasingly multicultural society, it may become more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstance of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat."
-- Zbigniew Brzezinski - founder of the Trilateral Commission
Is the War on Terror fabricated to be this external threat? Are the powerful world rulers deliberately altering our world?
You don't go into solving the problem of a hornets nest in a house by banging on it with a BIG stick - unless you want the hornets to come out so you can sell hornet protection to the occupants.
But then there is the backlash to the terrorist threat, whether real or not, as shown by Spain having brought their troops home from Iraq after losing 198 citizens in train bombings. More good news is Italy has announced that it will remove its 3000 troops from Iraq starting in September, (BBC). I say bring the contractors home.
The Mayor of London has publicly commented on the London bombings and lays blame on the west's poor judgment in foreign policy. "If you have been under foreign occupation, and denied the right to vote, denied the right to run your own affairs, often denied the right to work, for three generations, I suspect if it had happened here in England, we would have produced a lot of suicide bombers ourselves," he said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile in America, the peace movement is waging peace in the schools and they are butting heads with the tough love right wingers. "We don't want a generation of pushovers and namby pambies", says Michele Malkin, a right wing columnist. But it takes courage to stand up for what you believe and standing up for your values is the last guarantee that our country will not be overtaken by a domestic coup. President Bush said, "You are either with us, or you are with the terrorists." One could take this to mean, you either believe everything we say or you believe nothing. Do you believe the official story on the War on Terror? Do you give up your values for your president's values because we are at war?
"That we are to stand by the president (and the official story), right or wrong is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
- Theodore Roosevelt
I hold hope that the world has matured enough to see through the outdated right wing "might is right" philosophy and use the proven alternatives to solving conflicts that get results, like Gandhi's Satygraha and King's civil disobedience. If waging war to have peace worked then we would have been done with war long ago. Only waging peace brings about lasting peace. Has the world matured enough to realize that using violence to solve the problems of the world creates more violence and more terrorists?
One new program in the schools is called, 'Operation Respect', and it teaches the ways of peace and lays the groundwork for children to take a "peace pledge" and commit to non-violent conflict resolution to solve problems. I propose that all of the adults do the same before our leaders decide to solve their problems with nuclear bombs.
