You My Have already Jeopardized Your Citizenship
The U.S. Justice Department broke new ground with its crafting of the Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003. Among it's finer encroachments on civil liberties, revealed by the Center for Public Integrity, is Section 501. It would allow the government to strip U.S. citizenship away from anyone giving "material support" to any group designated as terrorists. Some of you may recall the U.S. Constitution forbids depriving Americans of their citizenship. A minor point. Justice Department lawyers adroitly found a loophole -- the Constitution allows to voluntarily give up their rights. The bill's authors then reasoned that, "an intent to relinquish nationality need not be manifested in words, but can be inferred from conduct." Thus a donation to a group on a list of terrorists can imply you do not want to be an American citizen.
Have you donated to one of the now illegal terrorist charities? Are you a member of the Fellowship Of Reconciliation (FOR)? They were kicked out of Israel in 2003 for supporting the terrorists. They were bringing food to the Jenin refugee camp. Or perhaps you have been arrested at a protest march and now have the label terrorist on you record. In the eyes of the new PATRIOT ACT this would mean you are guilty by association or from direct action and have asked to not be a part of the New Amerika. If you continue to stray you will be labeled a terrorist, stripped of your citizenship and deported. But who would want a terrorist in their country? Who that possesses a conscience can not speak out?
