George Kistiakowsky, a Harvard professor who had worked on the Atom bomb and later was the science advisor to President Eisenhower became a spokesman for the disarmament movement. His last public remarks were in 1982 - "I tell you as my parting words: forget the channels. There simply is not enough time left before the world explodes. Concentrate instead on organizing .... a mass movement for peace such as there has not been before."
10-29-01 - Global Laws being set to curb global warming in Morroco
IN these times of transition where every man, woman, and child will see complete political, social, and economic changes to their lives we have the saints of history as our guides.
The Mayan calendar speaks of the years between August 17,1987 to August 17, 2002 as the transition period between epochs. We are now in the clearest definition of these times. It is the duty of all people to participate in declaring what these changes will be. If we the people do not speak out for what we want, for what is right then someone will speak out for us. The future of humanity and life on this planet for centuries to come is being determined by our actions and inactions at this time.
The saints and heros of the past have shown the people the way to deal with corrupt authorities and how to persuade them to do the right thing. Ghandi has shown us how successful Satygraha can be in standing up for what is right. Mother Theresa has shown us how rewarding charity can be for the soul. The Dalai Lama is a living example of the compelling power of compassion. St. Francis was an example of how the innocence of nature can enlighten our spirit being human.
Rise up fellow spirits being human and take the torch that is given you and carry the light of the righteous human being and determine how life is going to live on Planet Earth.
Some of the victories past and present are:
The birth of the unions a century ago
The non-violent protests of Denmark and Norway during WWII
INDIA'S rise to independence and the leadership of Ghandi
The resilience of Nelson Mandela and the end of Apartheid in SO. Africa
The bloodless revolution of the Phillipines and the fall of Marcos
The Zapatistas in So. Mexico and their 2001 march on Mexico City
The Nicauraguan revolt against Samosa
The world talks on global warming
The UN and world treaties on banning germ warfare and limiting the sales of small arms (except in the United States)
The fall of the Berlin wall and the unification of Germany
The end of the COLD WAR
The moratorium on whaling
The end of the testing of nuclear bombs and their dismantling
The list can be expanded and is intended to inspire & give hope where the chances of getting anything accomplished seem formidable. Open up your faith as to what is possible and set about doing it for the time is now.
